We are pleased to announce our 2012 Speakers for the Lasting Flame Marriage Seminar. While marriage is between a man and women, there are many things that affect their marriage. Our goal is to focus on a different theme each year that deals with the heart of the issues we face in our marriages. We have hosted seminars that focus on Communication, Finances, Spiritual Warfare in a Marriage and this year, we are turning our focus to parenting.

   John and Kendra Smiley live on a working farm in Central Illinois. They have three grown sons and are thrilled to be grandparents. John and Kendra have authored books and spoken together for several years. Together they have co-authored the popular Parenting Like a Pro book series. They host “Parenting Like a Pro” radio program and have a regular monthly column called “Family Matters” in Prairie Farmer magazine. Here in Ohio, they are on each Thursday morning at 8:35 on WCRF, 103.3 Kendra, a former Illinois Mother of the Year, hosts a daily radio program, Live Life Intentionally, and speaks nationally and internationally. John, retired USAF Reserves Colonel now farms in addition to writing and speaking.

   Parenting is one of life’s most rewarding and challenging opportunities. As we often say in our seminars, you have a handful of years to help shape the rest of your child’s life. Parenting Like a Pro” is the theme while we will be drawing a lot of things from the book, “Do Your Kids a Favor….Love Your Spouse”. Parenting like a Pro isn’t about perfection – it’s about the discipline, purpose, joys, and trials of parenting. It’s a place where parents can be real and gain biblical insight and encouragement on parenting issues. Through our books and seminars, our goal is to help parents allow their child to “sing the song God has placed in them”. Teaching your kids how to love your spouse can go far to instill values in their lives. Today, more than ever, grandparents are raising their grandchildren so ultimately, You don’t have to be young parents to come to this seminar.
